Our Take

We personally love Oculus Quest, and it’s our favorite from all the VR headsets we tested so far. It is a standalone headset and a perfect option for casual to moderate gamers who want to give VR gaming a try.

Oculus Quest is highly portable. It also costs less than the top models. It provides a highly interactive and immersive virtual environment. It’s a breeze to set up and easy to use.

What We Like

  • Offers a great value
  • Extremely easy to use
  • Highly immersive
  • No wires to deal with

What We Don't Like

  • Hardly run the high-end games
  • Could be more comfortable in use

Oculus Quest is still the best and the most suitable if someone wants a quality smartphone virtual experience.

However, the only lack this headset has that it can’t handle high-end ultra-graphical games that require a high amount of processing power and performance. It is an overall excellent headset and makes its way in the top 3 smartphone headsets.

Oculus Quest is a standalone VR headset, and to play games or applications, you don’t have to use a top-tier gaming computer and which can also be costly. So consider it one time and only investment because it is worth it.

Why Oculus Quest?

In search of a great & immersive VR experience without spending a lot?

Stop your search then because you found what you’re looking Oculus Quest is the answer to all your questions. Quest is a fantastic value. It works perfectly if experience alone or with a PC.

Rift is from one of its competitors. Oculus also manufactures Rift, but the release year of Rift is 2012, and it is a bit old. But the design & mechanism of Rift is a bit similar to this one.

It is one of the top-quality VR headsets in the range of an average VR headset. When taking performance under the price of this headset, It is way better then Oculus Santa Cruz and Oculus Go.

With a recent release of Oculus Link beta, it is possible, but it will also make the setup a bit difficult. Before connecting Quest with your PC, you need to know if your PC can handle it or not. You ever heard the word “Rift”? Rift is considered as the first-stage tethered-headset out there when talking about performance.

There we came with a requirement list. So let us give a solid piece of information.

Oculus Quest Review: Before Buying

Oculus Quest inside-out tracking works like magic. So precise & accurate within a convenient tetherless VR headset design. It supports some of the unique VR games of the generation and doesn’t even require any additional hardware to operate.

Also, less potent as compared to wired headsets and sometimes for long-gaming sessions feels a little uncomfortable to wear. Quests screen is a little bit grainy but feels fine.

You will be the most suitable audience for the Oculus Quest if you have a mobile an updated version of the best ones out there and still own a PC.

The best audience

Oculus Quest is an out-of-the-box VR gaming headset. Quest is lightweight and comes at a reasonable price and also requires “zero” equipment to run.

Quest is perfect for all sized rooms and allows you to play genuinely immersive virtual reality anytime – anywhere. Oculus Quest seems like a more suitable option as compared to other virtual headsets out there – you don’t need a PC or any other piece of equipment to run it.

Oculus Quest Review: Features & Benefits

Oculus Quest is the one best-looking VR standalone headset. It is a robust & well-manufactured piece of equipment that is also a well-designed.

However, this headset measuring is 120mm x 110mm x 90mm, and it makes a difference. Matte black exterior got used on the front side with a logo of “Oculus” printed on top.

On the side, there is a touch fabric similar to Oculus Go. Around the lenses, there is foam lining. We were in search of the softest & comfiest VR headset lately, and Quest is the best we can find so far.

Still, the unique & comfortable design and it’s always been perfect.

Oculus Quest Headset

Get started in virtual reality with Quest. Setting up a VR headset never been so quicker & easier. First, you should have to download the Oculus App on your smartphone.

Afterward, Connection the Quest with your smartphone wirelessly to configure. That’s it! Start playing in VR and enjoy the immersive quality experience the Quest has to offer.

As we discussed earlier, if you want to experience it on a PC, then you need to install the Oculus Link software on a compatible gaming PC and then connect your headset using the Oculus Link cable, or you can use your preferred high-quality USB 3 cable.

Click the controller while wearing the Quest, and yet people might found it hard, but it will there own problem then. Since its release, Quest remained the most straightforward headset to set up, and after months remained the same, and we believe in the future it will be.

It’s fascinating how beautiful & straightforward structure has been build within a VR home. If your Guardian size is large enough, it gives you the ability to walk to the windows and actually can open them and stick your head out.

It all feels like an open structure. It is your choice; you can see many other Dome structures out there. Still the perfect match for a VR Home. It is your hub, nothing less than a space ship.

You can polish your home theme & background anytime/anywhere. In case of a new one, just customized the whole Home screen. Its standard home design is well done.

VR Games

Oculus Quest, when released, had over 50 games and apps ready to be explored. Including Google’s Tilt Brush, Lucasfilm’s Valder Immortal, and many other fantastic Triple-A VR games, including Job Simulator, Moss, Beat Saber, and SuperHOT. Now, we’ll discuss the ones we played on this VR headset.

  1. Beat Saber: It’s a lightsaber music rhythm VR game. It’s a hit title and feels more fantastic on Quest.
  2. Harmonix’ Dance Central: It gives a unique experience about how addictive motion-based dance/music games in virtual reality can be.
  3. Superhot VR: The unique VR game ever made. Superhot is a series of bullet-time sequences in which quick reflexes are needed in-order-to defeat surprise attacks.
  4. Dead & Buried 2: on Quest, it would feel like a console game. It’s a multiplayer shooter and fun to play.

Oculus Touch is the most ergonomic controllers to hold and considered the most intuitive ones. These controllers are super intuitive and comfortable in use.

With the buttons, these controllers can easily and naturally capture your hand motions. One flaw we found when we were testing it for long-gaming sessions that its battery occasionally covers loose.

With the Ergonomic design of controllers, they feel useful in hands, and once you hold them, you can tell by yourself about these controller’s premium quality.

The battery life of these controllers is just 2 hours. If fully charged and you start playing games after 2 hours, these controllers will be low on battery life. Just for the first time, it’ll feel like the battery of Oculus-Touch is never-ending, but once it’s empty and going to be charged for its first time. It’s back to 2-hours.

Oculus Quest Controllers

Oculus Quest built-in speakers support High-Res audio. They are good, and the sound they output is fantastic, but it can be more incredible if you use high-res certified pair of headphones.

They will improve sound quality and will allow you to enjoy virtual world exploration without projecting audio to others around you.

Quest is just plug-and-play for wired headphones, but for wireless headphones, Quest is a bit complicated. But the games like Beat Saber & SuperHot requires good audio to give you a fully immersive VR experience. So choose wisely.

This OLED screen has a resolution of 2,880 x 1,600 resolution (1,440 x 1,600 per-eye) and is way sharper if compared to Oculus Rift, Oculus Go, and Oculus Rift S.

Insight Tracking

The motion tracking of the hand controllers of Oculus Quest is impressively accurate. Position tracking of the headset is fantastic but leaving a single point behind.

When the movements are partially animated, it lacks accuracy sometimes. Overall the tracking system of this headset is quite impressive.

The motion controllers Quest use is officially the Oculus Touch controllers, which are the best in the game and considered excellent when it comes to tracking movement.

These tracker cameras can miss not even a single one object, and during playing games like space one & PC VR top-rated games, don’t even think about losing detail or facing blurry.

Oculus Quest Review: Our Analysis & Test Results

Our experts individually tested The Oculus Quest, and it did extraordinary in each of our tests. This headset provides ski-fi & quality performance. Quest in design is still the best but not perfect.

This scoring consists of how sound is its interaction with the users, accuracy in movement, and what other headsets have to offer as compared to it. After a complete checkup & comparison, we give it a value that defines it. Our experts gave it a 7 out of 10.

When it comes to top-notch virtual reality headsets, Oculus Quest will give you a guaranteed bang for the buck. It will provide you with a high-quality and top-tier VR experience similar to some top-tier expensive virtual reality headsets.

For reasons to keep you away from crashing into real-environment objects, this VR gives the facility of the inside-out tracking system.

Relying on cameras for best accuracy, and it also delivers. Every time you play in a new location, it will let you create a “Guardian.” Guardian is used to identifying the floor and drawing out the available/safe area to move around.

Afterward, Oculus Quest creates a virtual wall around this safe area, and this will prevent you from crashing and will alert you whenever you are near to it alongside your controllers.

The four ultra-wide-angle cameras at each of the headsets corners let you create a large area. The recommended size of this area is 6.5′ x 6.5′. It is capable of going much more significant than this but depends upon your room-scale play area.

Oculus Quest Inner look

Visual Impressiveness

Visual impressiveness is ranked second in regards to checking performance and this test based on Sharpness in optical quality, resolution, field of view, and quality of visuals. Keeping the above in mind and comparing it to other new devices like Oculus Go & Google Daydream View, the overall score Quest VR visual impressiveness earned is 9 out of 10.

The overall quality of the image that the Oculus Quest offer is fantastic. It feels like you are in the game, not just playing it.

Text is clear as crystal and reasonably easy to read and focus on. The virtual object is sharp and clear; even the too far objects can be examined.

Right around the nose of this VR, it let through a small amount of ambient light. I could be depended upon your nose shape; however, we don’t find it distracting when playing.

But overall, Oculus Quest did an excellent job of filtering out the ambient light from inside of the headset.

This headset has one of the highest resolution displays of 2880 x 1660 (1440 x 1600 per eye). But it also has a narrow field of view only about 101 degrees across.

In this section of the Oculus Quest VR review, we’ll talk about how perfectly it fits on your head, the ventilation system (air vents) for preventing you from sweating or fogging the glasses, and is there any room left to wear glasses. It did champions-level great and earned 6 out of 10.

This VR is too hard to wear for long gaming sessions, and also the front is more oppressive. It has some padding, but we wouldn’t have been opposed to a bit more.

Still, the most common problem between VR headsets is “heavier front,” and this VR is one of them. However, with a right & accurate adjustment, it could be beautiful to wear.

If the stripes are too tight, then it will hurt, and if they lose, then it will feel more cumbersome and uncomfortable, so we wish you happy hunting fixing the headset.

It feels a little tight over the face. Due to its this tightness property, it’s hard to wear it with glasses. Pretty close, isn’t it?

It fits very close to your face and also reducing the space to wear glasses. It can still work, means you can wear glasses, but then the head strap will squeeze the arms of it.

Then you will have to face the difficulty removing them. The ventilation system of Quest is not so good, and for more extended period sessions, your face could be sweaty. Oculus Quest is also warm up very quickly.

User Friendliness

Similar to other sections, lots of factors affect this stage of the Oculus Quest VR test. It determines how easy it is to set up and is its design is in a way that can feel friendly. It did great and earned 9 out of 10.

It doesn’t require external sensors, PC, and other hardware as compared to most of the headset does, and it doesn’t affect its performance or something instead of making it the fastest and easiest headset to set up.

This headset is entirely standalone, and the same goes for its controllers. Power it up, put it on, and here you go, just like that.

It will ask you to create a “Guardian” and you what it is already in case you don’t know then find it – it should be here somewhere in the article.

Quests integrated speakers are extraordinary and a headphone port in case you have your favorite headphones to use.

Quest only has a power button & volume control. These buttons are positioned where it is impossible to hit them while experiencing it accidentally.

Ease of Setup

This section of the Quest VR review determines the difficulty of preparing hardware, installing software, and connectivity to set up a VR device. It did great again and earned 9 out of 10.

There isn’t any hardware required by Oculus Quest to run and setup. You bought this headset, and now you are only two steps away from experiencing it.

  1. Install the batteries in the remotes
  2. Charge the headset

Now, let’s talk about software installation. You only have to install the Oculus app on your smartphone to create an account. And through this account, you will be able to purchase games and applications.

Playing with Oculus Quest

Oculus Quest is a VR system that goes beyond smartphone & PC headset experiences and gives you an immersive experience. Quest also isn’t the cheapest headset out there, but it’s a great bargain option for those who don’t want to spend a lot.

Within this price range and knowing what virtual experience it offers, Quest is way better than Rift and others. Because what gets after spending so much money on Rift? Just only a little edge in technology and performance, but Rift never makes it even near to Quest overall.

Still, we think that Quest Oculus is the best for experiencing games, and when got attached with a PC, it is nothing less than PC VR tethered systems. The new Quest is space perfect. For PC gamers, this headset is also a recommended choice for you. Quest, like a new PC VR, performs the best and outputs the royal-quality content.

New games are hard to run on the Quest because of that game’s high demand for graphics card and processor requirements. It’s standalone, but if got attached to a computer, it can perform as equal to Rift.

New games like Red Dead Redemption 2 & Death Stranding are out of range for Quest, but Rift can handle them, so consider buying Rift or any other, one in case you want to experience high-end games alongside some space ones.
